FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

Q. What is The X Factor?

A. This church wide spiritual journey will encourage us all to seek God like never before as we look back on what He has done at Impact during the prior 10 years and what He is preparing to do in the coming years. Through a customized small group curriculum designed to enhance what is taught in our weekend messages, each of us will be challenged to examine how we connect with God in a variety of ways. Through complimenting daily devotions and specific/special times of prayer, this spiritual journey could change you and your church forever.

Q. What am I being asked to do?

A. Fully engage with God during The X Factor. Be on the spiritual journey with us. Make a commitment to be in church every weekend, participate in a small group, use The X Factor daily devotional, participate in our prayer events, and be in prayer throughout The X Factor. Simply, let God move in your heart during the journey and then be faithful and obedient to whatever He calls you to do.

Q. Is this a capital stewardship campaign?

A. The X Factor is a spiritual journey we are taking together as a church to determine how we will respond to God’s calling for this church in the coming years. One major aspect of The X Factor is focused on securing the necessary funds to see that vision become a reality. Many of us have had our spiritual lives changed by the financial sacrifices of those who came before us and God sometimes calls us to make sacrifices above and beyond our regular tithes for His ministry here on earth. But, this is not a capital stewardship campaign focused on educating us about the Biblical commands concerning tithes and offerings and the appropriate financial stewardship of everything God has entrusted to us. If anyone needs help or education in these areas, they can contact our Executive Pastor for assistance and resources.

Q. Where will the funds given be used?

A. First, we need to convert two existing rooms at church to more children’s meeting space. Second, we need to install a temporary modular building on our property to create more meeting space for our children and youth ministries. Both of these changes are necessary because we are overcrowded in certain classrooms during our well-attended weekend services and do not want to discourage or turn away any of the families currently coming to church to hear about Jesus. We also need to do a minor expansion in our foyer to make that space more functional for our guests during weekend worship services and other large events. Third, we are stepping-up to a larger mortgage payment that will soon include balance reduction payments as part of the church’s overall financial management plan. Fourth, we need to start setting aside funds for our future facility needs (the “X”). Finally, 10% of everything given to The X Factor will be invested back into our community.

Q. Why invest in remodeling a building we might not be in several years from now?

A. We desperately need more space for our growing ministry NOW if we are going to continue fulfilling The Great Commission and reaching more people in our community who need Jesus, as well as effectively serving those families who are already here. The investments in the current facility are only expected to be 5% of the total funds raised and are necessary to allow the church to grow to a size where it can facilitate a more significant expansion and/or relocation in the future.

Q. What are the future facility needs?

A. While Impact’s long-term strategic plan contemplates a variety of possible options (the “X”), leaders already realize the ministry has outgrown its current facility – even with the minor remodeling to be done this year. Therefore, in order for Impact to keep reaching people in our community for Jesus, it will need to undertake a major expansion at the current site or secure a new larger site or both. For now, that variable is the “X” in our strategic plan and we are patiently waiting for God to make His will clear in the hearts and minds of everyone here… along with how He will direct us all to participate in the future of this ministry.

Q. Where will we be investing in our community?

A. That will vary from year to year. However, Impact’s leadership is committed to continue shining Christ’s love into our community in tangible ways. We have already pledged to continue our financial support of the Elk Grove Food Bank and we recently donated significant funds to help build the country’s first Christian home to rescue girls from the local sex trafficking industry. And Impact has a history of helping address other needs in the community through partnerships with other organizations (e.g. Loaves & Fishes, Union Gospel Mission, The Salvation Army, Love Inc., W.E.A.V.E., etc.). However, thanks to offerings made to The X Factor, Impact will be able to invest like never before into our community and will have the financial resources available to even try some other creative ministry ideas that will touch the neighborhoods around our church campus. Each year, Impact’s leaders will make strategic decisions on where to spend these designated funds so as to maximize their potential impact in our community.

Q. What is the impact?

A. An effective and successful journey and campaign will result in many more Changed Lives. We will be more effective and prepared to handle the people God brings to us, as we strive to fulfill The Great Commission. Your faithfulness and sacrifice here will “pay dividends” for eternity—payment you cannot get anywhere else.

Q. What if I still have questions or concerns?

A. We want to be sure you get your questions answered and your concerns addressed. Please contact our Executive Pastor, Scott Eaton, at 916.424.7478 or seaton@impactcommunity.com. He will be happy to talk with you.
